SEASPRITE SH-2G

The Kaman SH-2G Super Seasprite is an all-weather, multi-mission maritime helicopter primarily designed for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions, along with over-the-horizon targeting, surveillance, troop transport, search and rescue, and utility roles. Developed from the Kaman SH-2 Seasprite, the SH-2G variant features more powerful General Electric T700-GE-401/401C engines, a reinforced fuselage, multifunctional displays, and new avionic systems.

The manufacturer, Kaman Aircraft, is known for imagining and delivering highly-engineered solutions in the aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. Kaman delivered its first international SH-2G Super Seasprite in 1997.

The prototype YSH-2G first flew on April 2, 1985, and the SH-2G entered service with the U.S. Navy in 1993, serving with reserve units until 2001. Though retired by the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (in 2008), the SH-2G Super Seasprite continues to be in active service globally. Common locations and primary users of the SH-2G today include Egypt, Poland, Peru, and New Zealand. The Peruvian Navy operates re-manufactured and upgraded ex-New Zealand SH-2Gs from its frigates. The Polish Navy operates four aircraft that were acquired with U.S. Navy frigates.
