Engineered specifically for the forward fuselage geometry of the Q300/Q400 twin-turboprop profile, this specialized platform delivers safe, stable, and precise access to the nose and windscreen area—eliminating the need for improvised access methods and helping protect critical aircraft surfaces during routine and heavy maintenance.
The core function of this system is to provide secure, height-adjustable access for inspection, cleaning, and replacement work on the windscreen and surrounding nose components—areas essential for pilot visibility and flight safety. The design integrates sliding fingers that extend to match the aircraft’s nose profile, creating a snug, protective interface that supports accurate positioning while reducing the risk of contact damage.
The stand is engineered to closely contour the nose and windscreen region, enabling technicians to work confidently in tight, sensitive areas. Sliders are incorporated to fit the windscreen contour exactly, delivering a stable docking interface that helps prevent slippage or gaps while work is underway.
With a 1500mm height adjustment range, the platform can be configured for both jacked and unjacked aircraft, providing flexibility across a variety of hangar and line-maintenance conditions. Height is controlled via an incremental height locking system to keep the platform securely fixed at the required elevation throughout the task. An auto-braked hand winch supports smooth, controlled lifting and lowering with minimal technician effort.
Protection of the airframe is prioritized through EVA foam fenders positioned along leading edges to help prevent scratches or impact during maneuvering and placement. For technician safety, the stand incorporates an adjustable guardrail system to maintain a secure working perimeter and adapt to specific aircraft contours. Access is provided via stair entry with a self-closing gate, helping reduce fall risk by automatically securing the platform entrance during use. The perforated deck surface enhances grip and drainage, improving footing in wet or oily conditions.
Heavy-duty, fully braked 200mm swivel castors enable smooth maneuverability on hangar floors for accurate positioning at the aircraft. Once in place, the full braking system locks the stand securely to deliver stable support throughout maintenance operations.
While optimized for windscreen and nose access, the stand’s adjustable design supports additional maintenance applications across the aircraft, including access to leading and trailing wing edges and select high-wing structural areas where safe elevation is required. This multi-use capability increases hangar efficiency by reducing the need for multiple dedicated access platforms.
The Q300/Q400 high-wing, T-tail configuration—combined with the Q400’s notably higher stance—creates routine access challenges for daily and periodic inspections.
