YMF

The WACO YMF is a faithful homage to the biplanes of the Golden Age of aviation. Originally manufactured by Classic Aircraft Corporation in Lansing, Michigan, the company set out in 1983 to revive the original WACO YMF design. This effort led to the creation of the WACO YMF Classic, certified in 1986.

The YMF design was modernized with over 300 engineering improvements while preserving its vintage aesthetics, including a corrosion-resistant welded steel-tube structure and a Jacobs radial engine. Later variants, like the YMF-5C Super in 1991, continued the lineage. The aircraft features two staggered, unequal-span wings and two open, leather-trimmed cockpits, with the pilot flying from the rear position.

Access solutions are available for maintenance tasks across the airframe, including the nose section, wing box area, and tail section. These solutions include deck platforms, modular stepover platforms, scaffolding, and service stands, which enable maintenance personnel to perform detailed work on components like the engine, landing gear, and stabilizers. These platforms are indispensable for servicing the aircraft’s high-wing design and radial engine configuration.
