The YAK-18T is a Russian-built, high-performance, four- or five-seat aircraft renowned for its fully aerobatic capability. Despite its name, the 18T is a unique design, conceived in the late 1960s as a civilian aircraft. Its prototype first flew in mid-1967, leading to series production in Smolensk. Distinguished by its sturdy construction and responsive handling, the YAK-18T features a nosewheel configuration and is powered by a nine-cylinder 360 hp radial engine. Over 750 units have been built, primarily serving the Soviet Air Force and Aeroflot as a training aircraft.
The aircraft was manufactured by Yakovlev, a prominent Russian design bureau (OKB) founded by Alexander Sergeyevich Yakovlev. Throughout the Soviet era, Yakovlev was a foundational force in military and civil aviation, designing numerous trainer, fighter, and passenger aircraft. The legacy of Yakovlev is built on developing models known for their durability and performance, including the long-running Yak-18 family and the aerobatic Yak-50/52 series, which shares systems with the Yak-18T.
A variety of platforms and access solutions are utilized for thorough maintenance across the YAK-18T. Access equipment such as modular stepover platforms, trestle scaffold, and cantilever platforms help address maintenance requirements for critical sections. These products support detailed work on the Nose Section (including the windshield and cockpit), Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), and the Wing & Engine area. Additionally, platforms ensure proper access to the Forward Fuselage, Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area, AFT Fuselage, and Tail Section components for inspection and service.
