VIRUS SW 600

The Pipistrel VIRUS SW 600 is a light aircraft based on the foundational Pipistrel Virus design, introduced in 1999. The Virus SW production began in 2008, focusing on a short wing version. The Virus SW 600 D variant, specifically, is a model certified under new German rules for the 600 kg microlight category, powered by a 100 hp Rotax 912 ULS engine. This aircraft is often equipped with a full airframe emergency recovery parachute system, providing an added safety feature.

Pipistrel d.o.o. Ajdovščina, the manufacturer, is a Slovenian light aircraft company established in 1989 by Ivo Boscarol. Headquartered in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, Pipistrel has a long history in the aerospace industry, originally producing ultralight aircraft. By March 2019, the company had produced over 2000 aircraft across its Sinus and Virus families, confirming its role as a leading innovator in light aviation, including the development of electric aircraft.

The range of platforms and access solutions used around this aircraft are crucial for maintenance across all sections, including the nose, forward fuselage, landing gear, middle fuselage, wing and engine pylon, AFT fuselage, and the tail section. Solutions like cantilever platforms and service stands provide necessary access for detailed maintenance.
