The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, known globally as the Huey, is an iconic utility helicopter. First flown in 1956 as a replacement for the H-13 medevac helicopter, it became one of the most widely produced military aircraft in American history, built by Bell.
The UH-1H was the last major upgrade of the type, accepted by the Army in early 1967. While visually similar to the UH-1D, the UH-1H featured the improved Lycoming T53-L-13 engine, giving the aircraft the power required for demanding missions. Over 5,500 UH-1H Hueys were built before production ended in 1982. The Huey has served in every branch of the US military and 34 international forces, primarily for transport, utility, and armed escort roles, cementing its status as an indispensable rotorcraft worldwide.
Access solutions are required for detailed maintenance. For instance, deck platforms and modular stepover platforms are ideal for reaching the nose section (windshield and cockpit), forward fuselage (cabin access, entry doors), and general airframe areas. Maintenance stands and cantilever platforms provide necessary access for the Wing & Engine Pylon section (engine inlet/exhaust, fan, compressor) and the tail section (vertical/horizontal stabiliser, rudder) for thorough inspection and upkeep. Specialized trolleys are used to position cones and chocks for aircraft securing and safety.
