T-45C Goshawk

The T-45C Goshawk is a naval trainer aircraft, a carrier-qualified version of the British Aerospace Hawk Mk.60. It was developed to prepare US Navy and Marine Corps pilots for carrier-based operations. The T-45C is an improved T-45A, featuring a glass cockpit and inertial navigation.

The aircraft’s manufacturing was primarily led by McDonnell Douglas, which was awarded the Full Scale Engineering Development contract in 1982. The first T-45A Goshawk flew in 1988, and it became operational with the US Navy in 1991. Production of the Goshawk continued until 2009, with 221 units built, ensuring its foundational role in naval aviation training. McDonnell Douglas has since merged with Boeing.
