T-28A

The T-28A Trojan is a foundational military trainer aircraft manufactured by North American Aviation. It was designed for the United States Air Force, with the prototype flying for the first time in September 1949. Production spanned from 1950 to 1957, resulting in 1,948 units built. While primarily a trainer, the T-28 was also successfully employed as a light attack and counter-insurgency aircraft, notably during the Vietnam War. The T-28A variant was powered by a Wright R-1300 engine, delivering 800 hp, and had a maximum speed of 283 mph. Today, it remains popular in civilian use as a warbird performer.

North American Aviation (NAA) was established in 1928 as a holding company, but the Air Mail Act of 1934 forced its restructuring into a manufacturing company. NAA became foundational in American military aviation, producing influential aircraft like the B-25 Mitchell bomber and the P-51 Mustang. Post-WWII, NAA’s focus shifted, and eventually, through a series of mergers and sales, the company became part of North American Rockwell, which is now part of Boeing.

Maintenance access for the T-28A is essential across its structure. Platforms and access solutions are utilized to support thorough maintenance for sections including the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), Landing Gear (Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear), Wing & Engine Pylon (Engine, Hydraulics, Fuel Tanks/Pumps), and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder). Modular platforms and cantilever stands facilitate first-class access for detailed inspections and servicing.
