The STA-SPL aircraft is a variant of the foundational Ryan STA (Sport Trainer/Special) series, manufactured by RYAN Aeronautical. RYAN Aeronautical, established by Claude Ryan in San Diego, is best known for its role in developing The Spirit of St. Louis. The ST series, starting in the 1930s, established the company as a leader in all-metal fuselage construction and high-performance civilian and military trainers. These aircraft were renowned for setting transcontinental records and were even modified for military use in several countries, including Guatemala, where they were armed as fighters. The STA-SPL model continues this legacy of speed and durability.
Access solutions are foundational for thorough maintenance across the STA-SPL. For comprehensive access to the Wing & Engine Pylon section—including the Engine components, Hydraulics, and Undercowl—platforms such as the Modular Stepover Platforms and Super Maintenance Platform provide necessary height and reach. The Cantilever Platform offers specialized access over obstructions, ideal for the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Nose Avionics) and for servicing the Tail Section (Vertical and Horizontal Stabilisers, Rudder).
Platforms, including the Ultraraise and Easyraise, are indispensable for inspecting and servicing the Landing Gear and Forward Fuselage areas, providing stable, elevated access for tasks like inspecting the Main Landing Gear or forward wheel wells. Accessories like the Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley support efficient movement and safety during all maintenance, including general access across the aircraft’s body. For maintenance of electrical systems or in damp environments, a non-conductive platform is often preferred.
