SF50

The SF50, known as the Vision Jet, is a foundational single-engine very light jet produced by Cirrus Aircraft. This small business jet is notable for being the first civilian, single-engine jet to achieve type certification. It features a low-wing cantilever monoplane design, powered by a single Williams FJ33-4A-19 turbofan engine mounted above the rear fuselage. The airframe is entirely built of composite material, a first for a production jet. The cabin is designed to accommodate up to seven occupants, accessed via a clamshell door.

The manufacturing history of the Vision Jet began with deposits accepted in 2006. Cirrus unveiled a mock-up in 2007, and the first prototype took its maiden flight on July 3, 2008. The development process, spanning a decade, faced several financial and technical challenges. The aircraft was officially certified by the FAA as the Model SF50 on October 28, 2016, and began deliveries shortly thereafter in December 2016. As of late 2024, hundreds of units have been delivered, establishing its position in the personal jet market.

Maintenance of the SF50 requires specific access solutions for its structure. For instance, platforms such as Reach Deck Platforms and Modular Stepover Platforms can provide access to critical areas like the Wing & Engine Pylon section for tasks related to the engine, hydraulics, and fuel systems. For the Nose Section and Forward Fuselage (including the forward wheel well), equipment like Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys can be used. Furthermore, stands and ladders can facilitate thorough maintenance on the Tail Section (Empennage), specifically the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.
