The Supermarine Seafire Mk.XV was the foundational Griffon-powered variant of the Seafire naval fighter. The aircraft entered service just after the primary conflict of the Second World War. Westland Aviation was a primary manufacturer for this model, completing their first production aircraft on August 31, 1944. Westland was instrumental in the production run of 140 aircraft for this mark, which was derived from several Spitfire versions. The Mk.XV maintained the armament of two 20mm cannons and four 0.303in machine guns.
