The S-92A is a twin-engine medium-lift helicopter developed by Sikorsky Aircraft for civil and military operations. It first flew on December 23, 1998, and entered service in 2004. The S-92 was developed from the Sikorsky S-70, utilizing similar flight control and rotor systems. Over 300 units have been built, often used by major operators for offshore transport and search-and-rescue missions.
Sikorsky, the manufacturer, was established by Igor Sikorsky, an aviation pioneer who came to America as a refugee. He founded his company, which began with fixed-wing aircraft like the S-29A before leading the creation of the rotorcraft industry. For 100 years, the company has been pioneering flight solutions, upholding a legacy of innovation that continues to inspire the development of aircraft like the S-92.
A range of platforms and access solutions are available for servicing this helicopter, crucial for every component from the Nose Section (including the Radome, Antenna, and Windshield & Cockpit) to the Tail Section (Empennage), which involves the Vertical Stabiliser and Rudder. Maintenance platforms support detailed work across the Forward Fuselage (such as the Main Entry Door and Cargo/Baggage areas), the Landing Gear (Nose and Main), and the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (including Fuel Tanks and Oil Maintenance). Specialized stands and platforms also ensure proper access for all aspects of the Wing & Engine Pylon and AFT Fuselage, supporting methodical inspections and component repair across the aircraft.
