The S-97 Raider is an advanced reconnaissance and light attack helicopter prototype, developed by Sikorsky, now a part of Lockheed Martin. It utilizes Sikorsky’s X2 Technology, featuring coaxial contra-rotating main rotors and a pusher propeller, allowing for exceptional speed, maneuverability, and high-altitude performance, setting it apart from conventional helicopters. The S-97 program began as a privately funded initiative, building upon the success of the X2 demonstrator aircraft, and first flew in 2015.
