S-92

The S-92 is a medium-lift, twin-engine helicopter built by Sikorsky, a company foundational to American aviation. Founded in 1923 by Igor Sikorsky, the manufacturer pioneered the development of the first successful mass-produced helicopter. Today, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, remains a paramount builder of military and commercial rotorcraft globally.

The S-92 program was launched in the 1990s as a commercial utility and passenger transport helicopter. It received FAA type certification in December 2002, followed by EASA/JAA certification in June 2004. Powered by two General Electric CT7-8A turboshaft engines, the S-92 is known for its reliability, making it an ideal choice for offshore oil and gas transport, search and rescue, and VIP roles.
