S-2E

The S-2E is an iconic aerobatic biplane, part of the foundational Pitts Special lineage. PITTS Aviation Enterprises manufactured this high-performance two-seater, continuing the legacy established by designer Curtis Pitts in 1943 with the original S-1. The two-seat S-2 model, which the S-2E is derived from, first flew in 1967 and received type certification in 1971, marking the beginning of factory production. PITTS Aviation Enterprises was instrumental in introducing these factory-built competition aircraft. The manufacturing entity has seen changes over the years, passing through various companies like Christen Industries and Aviat between 1977 and 1994, but the Pitts Special remains a cornerstone of aerobatic aviation.

A range of platforms and access solutions are available to support methodical maintenance around this aircraft. Modular stepover platforms and cantilever platforms provide general access to sections across the aircraft. Specific platforms are utilized for the Nose Section (avionics, cockpit), Landing Gear, and the Wing and Engine Pylon area. The wing and engine components—including the engine body, fan, and fuel systems—require stable access provided by super service stands. These platforms also serve the AFT Fuselage and the Tail Section’s stabilizers and rudder.
