S-1A

The S-1A Cadet is a high-wing, single-engine monoplane featuring a tandem two-seat cockpit and fixed landing gear. Certified in 1941, the S-1A was powered by a Continental A65-8 engine. It was built with a welded tubular steel framework fuselage and wings constructed with spruce spars and metal ribs, covered in doped fabric. This aircraft had a fuel capacity of 15 gallons and a maximum range of approximately 350 miles, with a service ceiling of 14,500 feet.

Interstate Aircraft and Engineering Corporation, the manufacturer, began operations in El Segundo, California, in April 1937, succeeding Interstate Engineering. The company built around 320 Cadet aircraft between 1941 and 1942, before later models served as light observation planes (L-6 and L-8 Grasshoppers) for the military. Production by Interstate ceased in 1945, though the manufacturing rights were later sold and the design continues today as an upgraded variant.

For the S-1A, platforms and access solutions assist with maintenance. A Cantilever Platform or A Frame Aviation Platform provides ideal access to the engine (Inlet/Exhaust), Undercowl, and other components in the Wing & Engine Pylon section. For the Tail Section (Empennage), Modular Stepover Platforms and Super Trestle Scaffold facilitate detailed inspection of the Vertical Stabiliser and Horizontal Stabiliser. General Access needs for the fuselage areas can be supported by Platform Ladder Warthog and Easyraise solutions.
