R-2160

The R-2160, originally known as the Acrobin, is a two-seat, all-metal light touring and aerobatic monoplane. Manufactured by Avions Pierre ROBIN, this aircraft was built for private use and training, achieving success particularly after its production shifted to Hamilton, New Zealand. Powered by a Lycoming O-320-D2A engine producing 119 kw (160 hp), the aircraft is approved for all basic aerobatic maneuvers, boasting design limits of +6G and -3G. A foundational feature is the oil recuperation system, which allows for inverted flight for up to 20 seconds.

Avions Pierre ROBIN traces its manufacturing history to Centre-Est Aéronautique, formed in October 1957 by Pierre Robin and Jean Délémontez in Darois, near Dijon, France. The company initially produced the DR100 range, which was succeeded by the DR200 range. Production continued under the name Avions Pierre Robin starting in November 1970.
