PT17

The PT17 Stearman biplane, formally designated the Kaydet, is a foundational training aircraft, becoming the primary trainer for US military pilots throughout the 1930s and 1940s. Its sturdy, simple design made it ideal for teaching basic flying skills. Following its military service, many PT-17s found a second life as civilian aerial-applicator aircraft, commonly known as crop dusters.

The aircraft was manufactured by the Stearman Aircraft Company, which was acquired by Boeing in 1934. Boeing, a leading global aerospace corporation established by William E. Boeing in 1916, inherited the successful Stearman Model 75 design and continued its production as the PT-17. Over 10,000 Stearman aircraft were built, solidifying its place in aviation history.

Maintenance access for this biplane is supported by various platforms and access solutions. Modular Stepover Platforms and Super Trestle Scaffold are instrumental for reaching the Wing & Engine Pylon section for tasks like engine maintenance (Inlet/Exhaust and Engine Body). A Frame Aviation Platforms and Cantilever Platforms provide optimal reach for the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit) and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser and Horizontal Stabiliser). Super Maintenance Platforms and Easyraise solutions enable thorough inspection and repair of the Landing Gear (Main Landing Gear and Nose Landing Gear) and General Access points. Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys are indispensable for operational safety during all maintenance work.
