PAS-SM-1019

The PAS-SM-1019 is a turbine-powered aircraft, known commercially as the SIAI Marchetti SM.1019. This single-engine, high-wing monoplane was derived from the successful Cessna O-1 Bird Dog. It was developed to meet the Italian Army’s requirement for a light observation and liaison aircraft, performing its first flight in 1969.

The PAS-SM-1019 is powered by a reliable Allison 250-B17B turboprop engine. It features a sturdy design for utility roles, including an exterior height of 9 feet 4 inches, a wing span of 36 feet, and a maximum take-off weight of 3196 pounds.

The manufacturer, SIAI Marchetti, has a long and foundational history in Italian aviation, tracing its roots back to the early 20th century. Originally named Società Idrovolanti Alta Italia (S.I.A.I.), the company focused on flying boats before transitioning to land-based aircraft. Throughout the mid-to-late 20th century, SIAI Marchetti became renowned for designing and producing military trainer and light attack aircraft, such as the SF.260 and S.211.

Access solutions, including Reach Deck Platforms and Super Maintenance Platforms, are commonly utilized for maintenance across various aircraft sections. These platforms support detailed inspections of the Nose Section (including the Radome and avionics) and the Landing Gear (NLG and MLG). Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Decks provide necessary clearance for accessing the Middle Fuselage, Wing Box Area (for fuel tanks and oil maintenance), and the critical AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage), particularly for work on the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers.
