The PA-44-180, widely known as the Seminole, is a twin-engine light aircraft manufactured by Piper Aircraft. Developed from the single-engine Piper Cherokee, the PA-44 is primarily designed for multi-engine flight training. It received its certification on March 10, 1978, and was introduced as a 1979 model year.
Piper Aircraft, the company behind the Seminole, is a foundational name in general aviation. Founded in 1927, Piper has an extensive history of designing and producing popular and dependable aircraft. The PA-44-180 has seen three main production periods: an initial run from 1979 to 1982, a short restart from 1989 to 1990, and continuous production that resumed in 1995. Later production aircraft feature Lycoming O-360-A1H6 engines and maintain a gross weight of 3800 lbs (1723 kg).
The aircraft requires various specialized solutions for detailed and methodical maintenance across its airframe. Platforms and stands are used to ensure access to the nose section (including the windshield and cockpit), the main and nose landing gear, the wing box area, and the wing and engine pylon for essential engine maintenance. Access solutions also support work on the AFT fuselage and tail section components like the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.
