PA-36-285

The PA-36-285 is an essential agricultural aircraft, originally part of the Piper PA-36 Pawnee Brave series. This single-seat crop duster, first introduced in 1973, was designed for high-capacity aerial application. The PA-36-285 model specifically utilized a 285 hp Continental Tiara 6-285 flat-six engine. In 1977, when a 300 hp version was introduced, the original model was redesignated as the PA-36 Pawnee Brave 285. The airframe was engineered with a new wing design and an optional large hopper capacity for liquids or dry chemicals.

PIPER Aircraft was established by William T. Piper in 1937, leading to the creation of the foundational Piper Cub. The company quickly built a legacy as a leading manufacturer of light general aviation aircraft, establishing an extensive dealer network by 1938. While Piper sold the design rights to the PA-36 series in 1981, the aircraft remains part of the company’s long history of producing practical and widely used aviation platforms.

Maintenance access for this sturdy aircraft, especially around the wing, engine, and fuselage sections, is crucial. High-access solutions like cantilever platforms and modular stepover platforms are ideal for reaching the wing box, engine maintenance areas, and the empennage. Trestle scaffolds and maintenance stands provide adaptable access for thorough inspection of the nose section, landing gear, and forward fuselage components, ensuring detailed upkeep of all critical areas.
