PA-24-260

The PA-24-260 is a variant of the Piper Comanche, a respected four-seat, single-engine aircraft known for its speed and retractable gear design. The Comanche series development began with two prototypes built in 1956, with the first production aircraft flying in 1957.

Manufacturer Piper Aircraft introduced the 260 horsepower variants, powered by the Lycoming IO-540 engine, starting in 1965. This upgrade increased the aircraft’s performance, leading to maximum speeds of 178 knots and a maximum range of approximately 625 nautical miles. The PA-24-260 family included the PA-24-260B (1966–1968), the PA-24-260C (1969–1972), and the turbocharged PA-24-260TC (1970–1972). Production for this powerful series spanned from 1965 to 1972, with 1,029 units built in total.
