The PA-24-250, also known as the Comanche 250, is an icon of light aviation. This four-seat, single-engine aircraft was a key part of Piper Aircraft’s lineup, introduced in 1958. It immediately gained renown for its sleek, all-metal monocoque design and efficient performance, setting it apart from fabric-covered predecessors. Powered by a 250 hp Lycoming O-540 engine, the PA-24-250 offered a top cruise speed of 160 knots, making it a popular choice among private aviators. The PA-24-250 was the most widely produced of the single-engine Comanche variants, with over 2,500 units built.
Piper Aircraft, the foundational manufacturer, was established in 1927 in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Throughout the 20th century, Piper was instrumental in popularizing personal aviation with models like the Cub and Cherokee. The Comanche series represented a mid-century shift toward faster, more modern aircraft. Production for the Comanche line ran from 1957 until 1972 when severe flooding at the Lock Haven facility effectively ended the series’ manufacturing.
Maintaining the PA-24-250 requires detailed access to its systems. Specialized products such as platforms and stands support maintenance across several critical areas. For the landing gear and forward fuselage, access solutions like deck platforms and stand scaffolds are indispensable. These items provide stable positioning for work on the wing box, fuel tanks, and engine pylons. Modular platforms and cantilevers facilitate access to the tail section for thorough inspection of the vertical and horizontal stabilisers. These specialized products ensure that all essential maintenance needs are met across the aircraft’s structure.
