PA-18-135

The PA-18-135 is a foundational model of the Piper Super Cub series, an iconic American utility aircraft known for its unparalleled short take-off and landing (STOL) capability. Developed from the earlier J-3 Cub and PA-11 Cub Special, the PA-18-135 variant was a significant upgrade, featuring a more powerful engine and design refinements that cemented its reputation for ruggedness and versatility in agricultural, bush flying, and military roles.

PIPER Aircraft’s history began in 1927 as the Taylor Brothers Aircraft Corporation, later rebranded as Piper Aircraft Corporation under the leadership of William T. Piper Sr. in the 1930s. The company revolutionized light aviation by focusing on simple, reliable, and affordable aircraft like the Cub family. Production of the PA-18 line began in 1949 and continued for decades, making it one of the most enduring designs in aviation history.

Maintaining this aircraft requires access solutions for various critical sections. Specialized platforms and stands facilitate detailed, methodical work on the Wing & Engine Pylon components, including the engine inlet/exhaust, fan, and complex hydraulics. Access to the Nose Section allows thorough inspection of the windshield & cockpit and bulkheads. Modular platforms and trestle scaffolds are fundamental for reaching the Middle Fuselage, particularly the wing box area, fuel tanks, and cabin interior. Elevated stands also provide efficient access to the Tail Section for maintenance of the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and rudder.
