P40N5CU

The P-40N-5-CU is a variant of the legendary P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft, widely used by Allied forces during World War II. Known for its sturdy design, the P-40 series was crucial in theaters worldwide, famously scoring some of the first American aerial kills during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The P-40N was a “lightweight” version that arrived in early 1943, serving mainly as a fighter-bomber. It was powered by a single Allison V-1710-39 V-12 liquid-cooled piston engine.

The aircraft was designed and manufactured by the Curtiss-Wright Corporation. The company’s history is foundational to American aviation, tracing its roots to the early work of the Wright brothers and Glenn Curtiss. Curtiss-Wright was a major force in aircraft production during the war, manufacturing the P-40 from 1939 through 1944.

A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized for thorough maintenance across the P40N5CU. Products like the Reach Deck Platform and Platform Ladder Warthog provide access for detailed work on the Nose Section (radome, antenna, avionics, windshield, and cockpit) and the Forward Fuselage. Maintenance stands support access for the Main Landing Gear, while other mobile platforms facilitate comprehensive inspection of the Wing & Engine Pylon areas, including the engine body, fan, and hydraulics. Specialized scaffolding and trestle options provide essential access across the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage), ensuring all control surfaces and bulkheads can be serviced.
