P172D

The Cessna P172D is part of the legendary Skyhawk family, an aircraft line foundational to general aviation. The “P” designation in P172D stands for “Powermatic,” distinguishing this variant with its constant-speed propeller, which allowed the pilot to select the most efficient blade angle for different flight conditions. The P172D model was introduced in 1963.

Cessna Aircraft Company, the manufacturer, was founded by Clyde Cessna, who built his first aircraft in 1911. The company was officially formed in 1927 in Wichita, Kansas, and gained widespread fame for its high-wing monoplanes. The Skyhawk series, descending from the Cessna 170, began its continuous production run in 1956 and remains one of the most successful, mass-produced aircraft lines in history, cementing Cessna’s legacy in aviation.

A wide array of platforms and stands supports detailed maintenance across the P172D. Access solutions, including Reach Deck Platforms and Modular Stepover Platforms, are ideal for reaching the Nose Section, which includes the windshield and cockpit, and the Forward Fuselage for cabin access. For the Wing & Engine Pylon area, involving the engine body, fan, and compressor, specialised equipment like the Super Service Stand and Cantilever Platform are highly effective. For the Tail Section (Empennage), encompassing the vertical and horizontal stabilisers and rudder, products like the Ultraraise ensure thorough inspection and repair. These platforms facilitate a methodical approach to maintaining this popular aircraft.
