O-1E

The O-1E Bird Dog, manufactured by Cessna, is an iconic military liaison and observation aircraft. Originally designated the L-19, it was the first all-metal, fixed-wing aircraft ordered by the U.S. Army after the Army Air Forces separated in 1947. Cessna delivered the L-19A in December 1950, and the aircraft proved invaluable in the Korean and Vietnam Wars for target spotting and reconnaissance. The model was redesignated O-1 in 1962, and the O-1E is an improved version featuring a strengthened airframe. Cessna produced approximately 3,600 units of the versatile O-1 series before its U.S. military service ended around 1974.

A variety of platforms and access solutions support detailed maintenance across the O-1E. For the Nose Section, solutions such as the Reach Deck Platform and Platform Ladder Warthog provide access for the antenna, avionics, windshield, and bulkhead. Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Deck are essential for general access around the Forward Fuselage and Middle Fuselage/Wing Box area, facilitating work on fuel tanks and cabin access. Maintenance products like the Super Trestle Scaffold and Ultraraise offer strong and safe access for the Landing Gear and Tail Section (Empennage), including the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and rudder.
