NM5-100

The NM5 is a five-seater general aviation aircraft designed for various uses including pilot training, cargo transport, medical evacuation, and tourism. The aircraft was developed through a 50:50 partnership between the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) and Mahindra Aerospace. This collaboration represents one of India’s recent public-private partnership programs in civil aviation aircraft design and manufacturing.

Mahindra Aerospace, the manufacturer, partnered with NAL, which entirely designed and developed the NM5. The first flight of the C-NM5 took place on September 1, 2011. This joint development and subsequent production and marketing effort highlight Mahindra Aerospace’s role in advancing the civil aviation sector in India.

The access solutions available are well-suited for comprehensive maintenance across the aircraft. Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Super Trestle Scaffold facilitate access to the main sections, including the forward and middle fuselage for cabin, cargo, and wing box maintenance. The Ultraraise, Super Service Stand, Easyraise, and Super Maintenance Platform provide height access for the tail section (empennage), including the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers, as well as the Wing and Engine Pylon areas for engine, pylon, and anti-ice system inspections. Specialized platforms like the Branach Fibreglass Platform and A Frame Aviation Platform allow for methodical work on the nose section (radome, avionics, cockpit) and landing gear components (NLG and MLG). Bridge Deck and Cantilever Platform support detailed access around the wing structure and AFT Fuselage, ensuring thorough checks of the APU compartments, rear avionics, and AFT bulkheads.
