MQ-4C Triton

The MQ-4C Triton is an advanced, high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) uncrewed aircraft system designed primarily for maritime surveillance and reconnaissance. Developed from the RQ-4 Global Hawk, the Triton features significant enhancements, including airframe and wing reinforcements, de-icing systems, and lightning protection to allow it to operate in various maritime weather conditions. The first flight of the MQ-4C occurred on May 22, 2013, with Initial Operational Capability (IOC) achieved in 2018. It is a critical asset for the United States Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force.

The MQ-4C Triton is manufactured by Northrop Grumman, a major American aerospace and defense technology giant. The company traces its lineage back to Northrop Aircraft, Inc., founded in 1939. The modern entity, Northrop Grumman, was established in 1994 through the merger of Northrop Corporation and Grumman Aerospace, which notably built the Apollo Lunar Module. Today, Northrop Grumman is a leading manufacturer of advanced military and defense systems.
