MQ-1B Predator

The MQ-1B Predator is an influential remotely piloted aircraft designed for armed reconnaissance, airborne surveillance, and target acquisition. It was manufactured by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.

The aircraft’s lineage traces back to the General Atomics Gnat. The Predator first flew in July 1994 and entered service in July 1995. It was a foundational platform in modern remotely piloted warfare, deployed extensively in conflicts including Afghanistan and Iraq. The U.S. Air Force retired the MQ-1B in March 2018, having built approximately 360 units across its variants. General Atomics, the manufacturer, is a key developer of defense and energy technologies, renowned for producing successive generations of unmanned aerial systems.
