MIG-17F

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F is a post-Korean War Soviet fighter jet, an advanced modification of the MiG-15. The ‘F’ variant is notable for its Klimov VK-1F engine, which introduced an afterburner, significantly boosting its speed to 711 mph and increasing its ceiling to 57,000 ft. Equipped with one 37mm and two 23mm cannons, the MiG-17F proved highly maneuverable in combat, notably against faster US aircraft during the Vietnam War. Over 1,600 MiG-17Fs were built in the USSR by 1958, with thousands more produced under license in nations like China (as the Shenyang J-5) and Poland.

Mikoyan Gurevich (MiG) was a foundational Russian design bureau for jet fighters. Officially established as OKB-155 in 1939 by aircraft designers Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich, the firm quickly became the Soviet Union’s leading producer of jet aircraft. Their designs, including the MiG-15 and the subsequent MiG-17 family, were among the most produced jet fighters globally, seeing extensive historical service.

Access solutions like Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Cantilever Platforms are instrumental for servicing the airframe. They facilitate thorough maintenance on complex areas such as the Nose Section (for avionics and the cockpit), the Wing and Engine Pylon (critical for accessing the inlet/exhaust, fan, and compressor), and the Tail Section (Empennage), where the vertical and horizontal stabilizers require detailed inspection. These versatile platforms ensure safe, elevated access across the aircraft’s entire structure.
