The MH-47 Chinook is a versatile, tandem-rotor helicopter foundational to heavy-lift and special operations missions. Its manufacturing history traces back to Vertol, which began work on the Model 107 (V-107) in 1957. When Boeing acquired Vertol, the design evolved into the YCH-1B, later designated the CH-47A Chinook. Delivery to the U.S. Army began in August 1962, with production continuing to the present day under Boeing. The airframe is known for its sturdy and reliable performance, having over 1,200 units built as of 2012.

For the Nose Section (Radome, Antenna, Avionics, Cockpit, Bulkhead), Modular Stepover Platforms and Cantilever Platforms provide essential reach. Accessing the Forward Fuselage (Entry Door, Cargo, Cabin Access, Wheel Well) benefits from the Easyraise and Bridge Deck. Landing Gear maintenance (Nose and Main) is supported by the Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley.
The middle section (Wing Box, Fuel Tanks, Cabin Interior, Emergency Exit) requires broad access, provided by Super Service Stand and Ultraraise. Engine and Pylon areas (Inlet/Exhaust, Anti-Ice, Fan, Turbine, Hydraulics) benefit from high platforms and the Super Maintenance Platform. AFT Fuselage components (AFT Bulkhead, Cargo, Avionics, APU Compartments) are accessed using the Reach Deck Platform and Platform Ladder Warthog. The Tail Section (Vertical/Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder, APU Intake/Exhaust) requires specialized access, often achieved with A Frame Aviation Platform. Branach Fibreglass Platform is ideal for areas requiring non-conductive access.
