MC-130

The MC-130 is a special operations aircraft developed by Lockheed Martin, based on the foundational C-130 Hercules transport. Its missions include the infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply of special operations forces, alongside the air refueling of special operations helicopters and tilt-rotor aircraft. The aircraft is known for defying expectations and tackling missions in diverse environments. The first variant, the MC-130E, was developed to support clandestine special operations during the Vietnam War, entering service in 1966. Later variants, such as the MC-130J, were introduced in 2012.

Lockheed Martin’s history traces back to 1926 when the Lockheed Aircraft Company was formed. The company was awarded the contract to produce the C-130 in 1951, with the first flight taking place in 1954. The corporation merged with Martin Marietta in 1995 to form Lockheed Martin, which remains a leading global aerospace corporation.
