M65 GEMINI 1A

The M65 GEMINI 1A is a British twin-engined, four-seat touring aircraft developed by MILES Aircraft. It represents one of the last models the company produced in quantity and was derived from the earlier Miles Messenger. The Gemini was designed for post-war civil transport, featuring a low-wing cantilever monoplane design and built primarily with plastic-bonded plywood construction. This version was powered by two Blackburn Cirrus Minor II 4-cylinder piston engines, each producing 100 hp.

MILES Aircraft, founded by F. G. Miles, developed the prototype M.65 Gemini quickly after the end of the Second World War. The inaugural flight took place on October 26, 1945. Production continued at Woodley Aerodrome, with approximately 170 Geminis manufactured before the collapse of MILES Aircraft Ltd in late 1947. This history positions the Gemini 1A as a foundational piece of immediate post-war British civil aviation.
