M22

The M22 Mustang was Mooney Aircraft’s foundational venture into pressurized single-engine aircraft, evolving from the highly successful M20 general aviation design. The prototype first flew in 1964. Production ran from 1965 to 1970, yielding just 36 aircraft. The M22’s low sales volume resulted in financial losses that contributed to the manufacturer’s subsequent bankruptcy.

Mooney Aircraft Company, established in 1929 by Albert and Arthur Mooney, is a respected name in general aviation. The company, headquartered in Kerrville, Texas, since 1953, has a long history of manufacturing light aircraft.
