M20B

The Mooney M20B is part of the foundational M20 family of light, high-performance aircraft. Introduced in 1958, the M20B was powered by a 180 hp Lycoming O-360 engine. This model continued the success of the M20 design, which first flew in 1953 and was developed from the M-18 Mite. In total, 500 units of the M20A model, which the M20B followed, were built between 1958 and 1960.

Mooney Aircraft was founded in Wichita, Kansas, in 1929 by Al Mooney. The company gained prominence for its distinct forward-swept vertical stabilizer design and dedication to speed and efficiency. The headquarters moved to Kerrville, Texas, in 1953. The M20 series became Mooney’s most successful aircraft line, with over 11,000 aircraft manufactured and delivered worldwide, establishing the company as a key player in high-performance personal aviation.
