LA-4

The LA-4 Amphibian is a four-seat amphibious aircraft produced by LAKE A/C DIV OF Consolidated Aeronautics. Its design originates with Colonial Aircraft’s C-2 Skimmer from the 1950s. The aircraft’s name changed to Lake in 1959 with subsequent design improvements. The LA-4, which featured a four-foot greater wingspan, revised nose and doors, and a higher gross weight than the C-2, was produced until 1970. The production version, LA-4-200 EP, was type certified on July 26, 1960, powered by a Lycoming O-360 A1A 180 hp engine.

The maintenance of this aircraft requires methodical access to critical areas across the airframe. A variety of platforms and access solutions assist in servicing all sections, including the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), Forward Fuselage (Cabin Access), Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), and the Wing Box Area.

Platforms such as the Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Super Service Stand ensure access to the engine (Inlet/Exhaust and Engine Body), Wing & Engine Pylon, and Tail Section components like the Vertical Stabiliser and Horizontal Stabiliser. These versatile solutions are indispensable for thorough inspection and maintenance across the LA-4.
