L-5E-1

The L-5E-1 Sentinel is a two-seat light observation liaison aircraft recognized for its durability and strength. Developed during World War II, the L-5 series was critical for military operations, serving roles such as air artillery spotting and air ambulance transport. The L-5 was the second most widely used light observation liaison aircraft of the war. The L-5E-1 variant was among the L-5 models transferred for use by the United States Marine Corps and United States Navy.

The aircraft was manufactured by the Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Stinson Division. Stinson Aircraft was established in 1920 and became known for producing sturdy airplanes capable of landing on unimproved strips near front lines. The L-5 series production ran between November 1942 and September 1945, resulting in 3,590 deliveries for military service.
