The Auster J/5G Autocar, built by Auster Aircraft Limited, is a British four-seat, high-wing touring monoplane developed in the late 1940s. A derivative of the J/5B Autocar, the J/5G first flew in 1951. Auster Aircraft, based in Rearsby, Leicestershire, had its roots in Taylorcraft Aeroplanes (England) Limited, founded in 1938 to produce the American Taylorcraft Model B under license. During World War II, the company became known for producing the Auster series of military observation aircraft. Post-war, the company focused on civil aircraft designs, leading to the development of the J/5 Autocar series, among others, before the company’s eventual absorption into Beagle Aircraft in the 1960s.
A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintenance around this aircraft. For the Nose Section, Modular Stepover Platforms and Platform Ladder Warthog provide the necessary reach for the windshield and cockpit. Landing Gear maintenance is effectively addressed using Reach Deck Platforms for the Main Landing Gear access.
Access solutions, including Ultraraise and Super Maintenance Platform, are used for the Middle Fuselage and Wing Box Area, ensuring thorough access to fuel tanks and the cabin interior. For the Wing and Engine Pylon, specialized access is achieved with Bridge Deck and Cantilever Platform, vital for detailed maintenance of the engine body and associated hydraulics.
The AFT Fuselage and Tail Section maintenance, including work on the vertical stabilizer and rudder, benefits from the adaptability of the Super Trestle Scaffold and Easyraise. For general access around the aircraft, the A Frame Aviation Platform is foundational.
