J1/A1

The Auster J/1 Autocrat, manufactured by Auster Aircraft Limited, is a British three-seat touring monoplane. Its history begins with development from the sturdy and reliable Taylorcraft Auster Model J AOP. V observation aircraft as World War II concluded. The company modified an Auster 5 to feature a 100 hp Blackburn Cirrus II engine for initial testing.

Production commenced swiftly, and the first aircraft was delivered in December 1945. Manufactured between 1945 and 1952, the aircraft became known for several notable flights, including the first visit of a civilian aircraft to an aircraft carrier in the English Channel in 1946.

A range of platforms and access solutions are available for servicing this aircraft, including Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, and Ultraraise systems. These are crucial for access to vital sections like the Wing & Engine Pylon for maintenance on the engine and hydraulics, the Landing Gear, and general access across the airframe. Other equipment such as Super Service Stands, Bridge Decks, and Cantilever Platforms support thorough maintenance across the Nose Section and Fuselage areas, including forward and AFT sections. Specialized solutions like Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys further aid in maintaining the aircraft.
