Ilyushin Il-62

The Ilyushin Il-62 is a foundational long-range, narrow-body jet airliner. Designed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau, it served for decades as the Soviet Union’s standard long-haul aircraft. Its history began with the first flight on January 3, 1963, and it entered civilian service with Aeroflot in 1967. The upgraded Il-62M, introduced in 1974, featured technical refinements, including the innovative use of the vertical tail as a fuel tank, extending its flight range substantially. A total of 292 units were manufactured between 1963 and 1995.

Access solutions provide technicians with foundational support for the Il-62’s various inspection and maintenance needs.
For the Nose Section, including radome and avionics, items like a Cantilever Platform or Platform Ladder offer access. For the Forward Fuselage, platforms and stands assist with main entry doors and cargo areas. Landing Gear (NLG and MLG) maintenance is streamlined using stands and portable platforms.

The Wing & Engine Pylon requires careful access, especially for the rear-mounted engines and their components like the fan and turbine. Modular Stepover Platforms and a Super Maintenance Platform support thorough maintenance of the engines and anti-ice systems. The AFT Fuselage, which houses the rear avionics and APU compartments, and the Tail Section (Empennage), including the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, are supported by specialized platforms and stands to ensure thorough access for detailed inspections and repairs.
