HU-16A

The HU-16A Albatross is an iconic air-sea rescue flying boat. This aircraft, originally designated the SA-16, was produced by Grumman, a foundational aerospace company that later merged to form Northrop Grumman Corporation in 1994. The HU-16 series, developed from the Grumman Mallard, first flew on October 24, 1947, and entered service in 1949. Grumman manufactured 466 units between 1949 and 1961, and the aircraft served extensively with the U.S. military, including the Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy, remaining in limited use globally until 1995.

A range of access solutions support the maintenance of this aircraft. Reach Deck and Cantilever platforms provide access to the Wing & Engine Pylon section for work on the engine body, fan, and hydraulics. Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Decks offer access across the airframe, beneficial for components in the Middle Fuselage and Wing Box Area. Super Service Stands and Super Maintenance Platforms are key for detailed work on the Nose Section (radome, cockpit, and avionics) and the Tail Section (vertical and horizontal stabilizers, rudder). Easyraise and Ultraraise platforms facilitate work on the Forward and AFT Fuselage, supporting tasks around cargo access and bulkheads. Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys are used for general aircraft safety and positioning.
