HORNET MOTH

The HORNET MOTH, or DH87B, is a light aircraft manufactured by DE Havilland. Originally designed with tapered wings (DH87A), it was later offered with near-rectangular planform wings to improve safety and performance. Powered by one 130 hp de Havilland Gipsy Major 1 engine, a total of 165 Hornet Moths were built. The aircraft even saw wartime service as a communications platform.

DE Havilland, founded by Sir Geoffrey de Havilland, has a foundational history in British aviation. The company was responsible for designing and manufacturing a wide array of influential aircraft, from early biplanes to iconic jetliners. Their work includes some of the most recognized light and training aircraft globally.

A range of platforms and access solutions support maintenance around this aircraft. These products—including Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, Ultraraise, Super Service Stand, Easyraise, Bridge Deck, Cantilever Platform, Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley, Super Maintenance Platform, Fibreglass Platform, A Frame Aviation Platform, and Platform Ladder Warthog—help solve access needs across critical areas.

For the Nose Section, these platforms provide access for the Windshield & Cockpit and Bulkhead. They support work across the Forward Fuselage for Cabin Access, and maintenance needs related to the Landing Gear (NLG and MLG). Detailed maintenance is also supported for the Middle Fuselage / Wing Box Area (Wing Box, Fuel Tanks, Oil Maintenance, Cabin Interior), and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder). These platforms are integral for comprehensive general access (AF-BF).
