The Global 5000 is a long-range, wide-body business jet, announced in October 2001 and launched in February 2002. It is a slightly shorter variant of the Global Express. The aircraft completed its maiden flight in March 2003, achieving certification in October 2004. This high-performance jet is renowned for its speed and intercontinental range, making it ideal for business transport. An increased certified gross weight in 2008 allowed for an extended maximum range.
Learjet, the foundational name in business aviation, was established in 1962 by Bill Lear. The company pioneered the twin-engine business jet market with the Model 23 in 1963. After several changes in ownership, including a period as Gates Learjet, the company was acquired by Bombardier Aerospace in 1990, becoming Bombardier Learjet. Under Bombardier, the brand continued to develop popular models. Production of Learjet aircraft ceased in 2021, marking the end of its manufacturing history in Wichita, Kansas.
Various platforms and access solutions are utilized for aircraft maintenance and inspection across different sections of this plane. These solutions address access to areas like the nose section (including radome and avionics), the forward fuselage (for lighting systems and cabin access), and the landing gear (both nose and main). Specialized equipment provides access for detailed, methodical work on the middle fuselage and wing box area, particularly for fuel tanks and oil maintenance. Furthermore, maintenance access solutions support comprehensive work on the wing and engine pylon for engine inlet, exhaust, and hydraulic systems, as well as the AFT fuselage, where access to APU compartments is critical. These platforms are also indispensable for servicing the tail section, focusing on components like the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and the rudder.
