G-73

The G-73, historically known as the Grumman G-73 Mallard, is an enduring twin-engine amphibian aircraft. Its development began as the last in a line of successful Grumman amphibians, making its first flight on April 30, 1946. Production totaled 59 units in Bethpage, NY, with the first delivery occurring in September 1946. Today, a significant portion of these aircraft remain operational flyers.

The manufacturer, Northrop Grumman, is a leading global aerospace and defense technology company. The heritage of the G-73 is traced back to the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, which later became part of Northrop Grumman through mergers and acquisitions, reflecting a long history of aircraft development and manufacturing in the United States.

Access platforms and stands enhance maintenance across various sections of the G-73. For the Nose Section (including Radome, Antenna, Windshield & Cockpit) and Forward Fuselage (such as Cabin Access and Lighting Systems), solutions like the Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms offer safe elevation. The Landing Gear (NLG and MLG) benefits from the Super Trestle Scaffold and Ultraraise stands for sturdy positioning during detailed work.

Access to the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area and the Wing & Engine Pylon is critical for maintenance on the Engine components (Inlet/Exhaust, Fan, Compressor, Turbine) and Fuel Tanks. Specialized platforms, including the Super Service Stand, Easyraise, and Cantilever Platform, provide the necessary access around these components. The AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage, Vertical/Horizontal Stabilisers) are safely reached using the Bridge Deck, A Frame Aviation Platform, and Platform Ladder Warthog, ensuring thorough checks of rear avionics and control surfaces. These access solutions are foundational for detailed, methodical maintenance of all aircraft sections.
