G-21A

The G-21A Goose is an iconic amphibious aircraft, the first monoplane designed by Grumman. The G-21 prototype first flew in May 1937, offering versatility for both water and land operations. Originally conceived as a business transport aircraft for wealthy investors, the G-21 series quickly saw service in military roles during World War II with the U.S. and Allied forces, valued for its rugged design and utility.

The manufacturer, Northrop Grumman, traces its history through the foundational Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, which designed and built the Goose. Grumman was a major figure in American aviation, ranking high in wartime production. The company later merged with Northrop Corporation in 1994 to form Northrop Grumman, a global aerospace and defense technology company.
