G-164

The G-164 is the Grumman Ag Cat, a single-engined biplane designed specifically for agricultural aerial application. Developed by Grumman in the 1950s, the aircraft quickly became a respected fixture in the agricultural aviation sector. The initial design was unique for its high-wing configuration and sturdy build, making it ideally suited for the demands of crop dusting.

Manufacturing of the G-164 was primarily handled through a major subcontract. Due to Grumman’s military commitments, production of the Ag Cat was outsourced to Schweizer Aircraft Corporation, which manufactured a large number of the G-164, G-164A, and G-164B variants between 1959 and 1979.

The foundational manufacturer, Grumman Corporation, later merged with Northrop Corporation in 1994 to form Northrop Grumman. This multinational American corporation specializes in aerospace, defense, and information technology. The company has a long legacy of aircraft development, spanning back to 1939 with the founding of Northrop Aircraft, Inc.

Access equipment is indispensable for servicing the G-164. Platforms and stands are used for thorough maintenance checks on the nose section, the main and nose landing gear, and the wing area. Specialized access solutions assist with detailed work on the propeller and engine body, ensuring operational readiness of this classic biplane.
