The FU-24A/A4 is an iteration of the Fletcher FU-24, a versatile utility aircraft. The “A” variant specifically denotes a dual-control version. Manufacturing of the FU-24 ceased in the US in 1965, but production was subsequently taken up by Airparts NZ. Airparts NZ was originally established in 1957 to distribute parts for the FU-24. In 1972, Airparts NZ merged with Aero Engine Services Ltd (AESL) to form NZ Aerospace Industries, which continued the aircraft’s production in Hamilton.
