The Fokker F28 MK070, commonly known as the Fokker 70, is a regional jet designed by Fokker, a Dutch aircraft manufacturer with a rich history in aviation, dating back to 1919. Following the success of the F27 Friendship turboprop, Fokker developed the F28 Fellowship, which first flew in 1967. The F28 was the company’s first jet-powered passenger aircraft, known for its twin Rolls-Royce Spey engines mounted on the aft fuselage and a characteristic T-tail. The F28 family was manufactured from 1967 to 1987, with 241 units built.
The MK070 (Fokker 70) is a derivative of the F28, developed in the early 1990s as a shortened version of the Fokker 100. It was designed for short-haul routes requiring fewer seats, maintaining the high quality and performance standards of the larger model. Fokker ceased operations in 1996, but its aircraft, including the Fokker 70, remain operational globally.
