The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a paramount single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft. Conceived in the 1970s, it was originally developed as a lightweight day fighter under the Air Combat Fighter competition. Its innovative features include a frameless bubble canopy for enhanced visibility, side-mounted control stick, and a reclined seat to manage G-forces. The F-16 quickly evolved into one of the world’s most successful combat aircraft, serving numerous air forces globally.
General Dynamics, the original manufacturer, was a foundational American defense contractor with a long history in military aerospace. The company won the contract for the F-16, with the first prototype flying in 1974. General Dynamics produced the Fighting Falcon until 1993, when its Fort Worth aircraft manufacturing division—and the F-16 program—was acquired by Lockheed Martin.
A comprehensive range of access solutions supports detailed maintenance across the aircraft. Platforms and stands facilitate access to critical sections such as the Nose Section (Radome, Antenna, Nose Avionics, Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), Forward Fuselage (Cabin Access, Environmental Control System, Forward Wheel Well Access), Landing Gear (Nose and Main Landing Gear), Wing & Engine Pylon (Engine, Hydraulics, Fuel Tanks/Pumps, Undercowl), and the Tail Section (Vertical and Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder).
